History
For More Than Six Decades, The Boiler Room Resource.
Precision Boilers, Inc. has a long history of boiler design and
construction success.
Precision Boilers
entered the hydronic heating and plumbing industry in 1946, when the
Precision Sump Pump was engineered, developed and put into
production. A year later, the first Precision electric boiler
was designed and fabricated. The company continued to grow,
and its reputation and capabilities kept expanding.
In January of
1983, Precision Boilers was sold to Machinery Manufacturing of East
Tennessee and relocated to Morristown, TN. The new leadership
of the company kept building on previous successes, expanding to a
multi-line manufacturing operation still serving the heating and
plumbing industry. The line at this point included electric
hot water and steam boilers, plus electric hot water storage
heaters.
In the 1980s, gas
fired products were developed, and the introduction of
atmospheric-gas-fired copper finned tube and power-gas-fired
vertical firetube boilers and water heaters followed. Growth
continued with the expansion of the ASME pressure vessel line to
include flash tanks, air receivers, air separators, bypass feeders,
blowdown tanks, and condensate return/boiler feedwater systems.
In addition, indirect fired packaged hot water and steam generators,
heat transfer packages, and accessory products were introduced.
In 1988,
Precision Boilers entered the heat side thermal storage business by
purchasing the technical and engineering data of Megatherm, Inc., a
Rhode Island company who had built thermal storage products for over
20 years. Now manufactured under the trade name Thermogenetic™,
the systems are custom designed and utilize pressurized high
temperature water storage from 240 to 18,000 gallons to provide
domestic hot water, hydronic heating water, or process hot water.
They are fired with electricity, steam, gas, oil, or a combination
thereof.
In 1990, the
Precision Compac™ Boiler was introduced. The Compac has the
smallest footprint in the industry, and packs up to 264 kW in a
cabinet 24" wide and 30" deep. It can go easily through a 28"
doorway. A slightly larger version of the boiler offers 480
kW.
In 1991, an
increase in personnel in engineering allowed Precision Boilers to
expand its scope of custom products and services. Models such
as superheaters, circulation heaters, electric high pressure steam
boilers (up to 3,000 PSI), electric and steam dual-fired heaters,
high voltage electrode boilers and condensate return/boiler
feedwater systems became available. Other products such as
vertical firetube power gas fired boilers/water heaters, indirect
fired storage water heaters, and semi-instantaneous water heaters
have gained significant market share.
In 1994,
Precision Boilers invested heavily in a new factory, doubling its
production areas. The new plant was expanded again in 1997,
and plans for further expansion are on the board.
Precision Boilers
is ISO 9001:2000 certified, and holds the coveted Chinese Safety and
Quality License, which opens up even more opportunities through
exporting.
